REFUND THE COMPULSORY DEDUCTION OF GhC50 TO SERVICE PERSONNEL - EDEM AGBANA TO NSS

The Deputy National Youth Organizer of the opposition NDC, Mr Eric Edem Agbana has issued a stern warning to the management of the National Service Secretariat to as a matter of urgency, refund some monies that were deducted from the regular allowance due them for the month of March.

The vociferous youth activist and former student leader describes this action as thievery, the compulsory deduction of the said amount for 2 yards of NSS branded cloth for the over 66,000 service personnel within the public sector.

'If the NSS intends to do a rebranding and finds cloth as a necessity in that enterprise, it is the duty of the secretariat to fund the rebranding exercise, you can't impose a cloth on people and deduct the said amount from their paltry stipends. It is not only thievery, it also reflects the insensitivity of those managing the NSS.
This is the time that they should rather be making a case for an increment of the current allowance, not to be taking from the poor service personnel again." he fumed.

He was responding briefly to a recent news item suggesting that the National Service Secretariat has superimposed a two piece cloths leading to the compulsory deduction of GHC ¢50 from personnel's March allowance.

He then called on the leadership of the Secretariat to the honorable thing by either  refunding the monies to the service personnel or make purchasing of the clothe optional.

He hinted that, failure to comply with with this simple directive, Service Personnel from across the country will embark on a mass protest against the extortion.

  5. Hmmmm some management in some of our office's in this country are just there to theift the poor and become rich. Why should you deduct money from poor service person who is fining it difficult to pay rent and other in the name of a clothe. What kind of robbery is this.

    1. Hmmmmm, I think it's not in the interest of all NSS personnel to wear that cloth. It Should have been provided free of charge since we are qualified to receive full salaries but rather rendering our services to the Nation or making it optional. That service allowance can not help service personnel to meet the xucurre economy. A situation where prices of goods are increasing day-in-day- out while NSS allowance remains unchanged . I personally suggest that the management of NSS should lias with the government to revisit the idea by providing the service personnel free NSS Cloth for the good of all. Thank you.

    3. I tell you some of us are not having it easy koraa.. Some things should be even given to service personnels before setting off for service. But they just post you anywhere without finding out if this person is okay or not and now deduction from that money they are giving that before the month even ends , you will be having some debts to settle...

  14. In my district I learnt the cloth is not enough for every personnel to have meaning not everybody will get the cloth and yet a compulsory GH50 has been deducted from the allowance, this is really unfair at all. We are even paying GH3 dues every month too. We need our monies back.

  18. Somebody educate me, what at all is this cloths worth and why is it so compulsory when we are under lock down and every dime counts for feeding our families? Did any NSS personnel lament over needing a cloth to cover nakedness or for an NSS occation? Please someone should brief me cause am really supprised at how wicked some leaders could be trying to exploit and prey on this cute allawance. Some of us it's our only sure hope when everything else fail.
