SHOW COMPASSION AND FELLOW-FEELING TO OUR PEOPLE AT THIS TIME - JOHN MAHAMA TO GHANAIANS

The leader and flagbearer of the opposition NDC party has called on Ghanaians especially MPs and Parliamentary Candidates of his party to extend helping hands to needy homes and homeless people in this difficult crises situation.

He made this known in a Facebook post on his personal wall when he wrote on the Day 3 of the lockdown announced by the President in some restricted areas of the country, under the Imposition of Restriction Act 1020 (Act 2020).

The former President equally touched on some critical issues including shortage of PPEs in hospitals, brutalities on the part of some security and service personnel, advice to citizens on the need to adhere to the restrictions and a host of other essential matters.

He stated, his outfit has noticed with grave convern about the excesses of the brutalities meted out to civilians by some service personnel in their duty to ensure citizens comply with the lockdown directives. He called on Service Commanders to as a matter of urgency to call their boys to order and brief them on the need to be firm and fair in ensuring compliance of the directives.
"We have noted some excesses involving brutalization of the civilian population by some service personnel and I urge the various Service Commanders to urgently brief the men to be firm but fair in the execution of the directives". He noticed.

The Flagbearer of the NDC empathized on how disadvantaged the poor may be as a result of the social distancing and lockdown. That even though COVID-19 does not consider neither the rich nor poor making everyone to be at risk, he explained that the less privileged may suffer its implications the most.
"As we have all noticed, COVID-19 does not discriminate between the rich and the poor. Every one of us is at risk. During this period, however, the poor are suffering disproportionately from the effects of social distancing and the lockdown. We need to do more, as a people, to alleviate the suffering of this disadvantaged and vulnerable group". He explained.

Mr Mahama revealed that his outfit is on the move to purchase more PPEs and other medical supplies to be distributed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital and other Regional facilities that have recorded cases of COVID-19.

He finally used the opportunity to call on all and sundry to do more by way of supporting the disadvantaged section of the population and the provision of PPEs and other necessary medical supplies to hospitals and facilities' frontline workers to fight the COVID-19.
"I urge all to do more. As the Medical Director at the Ridge Hospital (GARH) said to me when I presented PPEs and other items to them on Sunday, "like Oliver Twist, we ask for more. Please let us all do more! He prayed.
