There is a spark of humanity in everyone. As we claim our personal sparks we become agents of transformation. As agents of transformation, all the resources we need may either be available to us or we must make them available in the process of transformation.
It works best when we, ourselves, are willing to be transformed. As we explore, we must support each other in exploring.
The past few weeks have not been an easy nuts for us to crack as a people. We've been slapped in the face by a global pandemic which has so far claimed over 30,800 precious lives.
Several countries have fought it physically, mentally and psychologically with all available resources but situations currently seems not under control. As Ghanaians, even though we've almost been overwhelmed by the crises, we're still hopeful and positive that we shall together fight the battle.
As part of the Preventive measures, government has instructed a partial lockdown of certain key areas within the country effective Monday, 30th of March 2020. The purpose for the restriction is meant to mitigate the rate of COVID-19 spread and to allow effective means of monitoring and tracing individuals who might have had direct contacts with people who've tested positive for COVID-19.
This lockdown will certainly cause a lot of economic and survival inconveniences. A lot of friends, families and individuals survive on their daily hustling and hawking on the street. It suggests that at the end of the day, it is the back of the man with blunt cutlass that will suffer.
This is the time we need to activate our spirits of brotherhood and sisterhood. We need to have a sense of urgency for people who even on ordinary times struggle to provide just a meal square. There are people out there who may genuinely need our helps and assistance.
Government may do its part to bring hope to these people, however it may not be able to do it all. It is in the spirit of spark of humanity that we become each other's keeper in times like this. Just call or locate an unemployed friend, a hawker, head potter (kayaye), a scrap dealer, a pure water sachet collector, a local refuse collector etc and inspire the person with a donation of any form or kind. It may not be enough as you'd expected to have given but to this person, you've given him/her the world and your name will be engraved in the walls of their hearts forever.
I have already noticed some individuals, church ministries (like the House Maker's Chapel Int. Ministries), groups, some students Unions (like the National Union of Ghana Students) and Community youths organizing themselves to put smiles on people's faces in this trying moments. There's nothing more humane, inspiring as a stream of hope flowing to people than this. They certainly deserve alot of commendations.
I would therefore want use this platform to once again call on other groups, organizations, clubs and individuals who have the strength to reach out to these people who may be hit hard by the situation and force their eyes to be plugging from it's eyeball sockets.
In times like this, the source of hope and inspiration to sustain us will come from ourselves.
I greatly agree with Victor Hugo when posited that "the greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved; loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves." This is the meaning of true love...
We therefore need to let people around us feel an exceptional sense of being loved unconditionally and that not even a pandemic like this can devour our spirits of brotherhood and togetherness.
I cannot end this piece without sending warm and kind regards of best wishes to the first gentleman of the land, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo on his birthday. We continue to pray for the Almighty God's infinite blessings, wisdom especially and good health, to be able to steer the affairs of the nation peacefully allowing rule of law to be in full operation and eschew callousness and infidelity of any kind till his time of exit.
Let's continue to observe all precautionary protocols and lockdown restrictions. It's not just na ordinary times, as Sparks in the socities let's all put our shoulders to the wheels and and push along to eliminate COVID-19.
Remember, we may be strong and individuals but as a group or team, we are invincible.
May all sparks be strengthened. May we all be willing to transform and be transformed.... Help Someone!! Save A Life!!!
STAY HOME........ STAY SAFE
